Who I Am
If there’s one thread that runs through my career, it’s curiosity — the kind that makes you take things apart just to understand the magic inside. I’ve always believed that technology is a puzzle waiting to be solved, and I approach every challenge with patience, persistence, and a genuine passion for learning.
My journey into tech began with two diplomas in computing, followed by a degree that solidified my love for the digital world. Before stepping into software development, I worked at a well‑known electrical retail company, surrounded by the latest gadgets and equally tech‑obsessed colleagues. Somewhere between explaining features and testing new devices, I picked up amateur electrics and soldering — and developed a habit of dismantling things “just to see how they worked.”
After graduating, I landed my first developer role at a software‑based document‑management company. It was very much a “thrown into the deep end” situation — and somehow, I swam. Working with a brilliant team, I built diagnostic tools, integrated third‑party systems, and eventually delivered a major project for the National Health Service.
A few years later, curiosity nudged me toward something new. I joined a young company and helped build a greenfield project from the ground up. With only two developers, it was equal parts exhilarating and terrifying — but the result became a huge success, earning awards and glowing feedback from users.
After my time working with the country’s health sector, I realised I wanted a change. As fulfilling as the work was, the strict procedures made it difficult to experiment with newer, more efficient technologies. Then I found a globally established software company with mature systems and decades of history — the perfect place to learn from long‑standing architectures and contribute to software used worldwide. I’ve proudly continued that role for nearly ten years.
Outside of work, I’ve made a conscious effort to explore more hobbies. I picked up archery, rediscovered fishing, and developed a deep fascination with Japan — its culture, history, and language. After years of studying Japanese, I finally visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. The experience left a lasting impression, and I plan to return as often as possible.
Today, I bring together everything I’ve learned — curiosity, patience, problem‑solving, and a genuine love for technology — to build software that’s reliable, thoughtful, and user‑focused.
Experience Timeline
Senior Software Engineer — Retail & Logistics SaaS Provider
2016 – Present
• Developed a modern cloud based SaaS platform, replacing a legacy desktop system and supporting customers across multiple global regions.
• Delivered integrations with warehousing, dispatch, accounting, and CRM systems — including Xero and Vend — to streamline data flow and reduce manual processes.
• Built automation tools including a warehouse ticket printing system that reduced handling time and errors
• Developed a production management system for a major merchandise company, improving coordination with their German manufacturing plant and enhancing planning and fulfilment accuracy.
• Used AI assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to accelerate coding, generate tests, refactor legacy components, and support architectural decision making.
• Applied prompt engineering techniques to guide AI tools in producing reliable backend, frontend, and cloud ready code, improving delivery speed and reducing repetitive workload.
Web Developer — Healthcare Transport SaaS
2015 – 2016
• Co developed a cloud based platform for Patient Transport Services, designed to streamline the
full lifecycle of transport operations. The system supports efficient tendering,
automated compliance checks, and real time dispatch for clinically vulnerable patients, helping
providers deliver safer and more reliable care.
• Delivered feature enhancements based on user feedback, including governance workflows, navigation
improvements, telemetry, diagnostics, and reporting.
• Adopted early AI assisted tooling to support rapid prototyping, documentation, and code review
workflows, improving turnaround time for new features.
Microsoft .NET Developer — Digital Healthcare Document Management Systems
2014 – 2015
• Developed an MVC application delivering real time diagnostics and operational insights, processing
high volume data from a major electronic document
transfer system used across UK Health Trusts to improve visibility and support response workflows.
• Worked closely with support and product teams to refine features and deliver new application
components.
• Contributed to national scale system upgrades for Health Services, collaborating with
vendors and governing bodies to deliver an electronic
patient record transfer system ahead of schedule.
• Unified API functionality from leading primary care providers into a single streamlined program and
refactored core components for future integrations.
